What is it REALLY!?
All of us desire success for ourselves and our children. When we define it for ourselves, we always end up on the wrong trail to success. God is the only one in whom we should trust to lead us to genuine everlasting success, which He desires for all of us!
We all have our ideas of what a successful life looks like. For some it has to do with reaching the pinnacle of your profession and having the authority to make a difference in your circle of colleagues. For others it has to do with financial success, putting enough money away in order to live comfortably in a long retirement. For still others, success has to do with how much you can give back and support others. But what underlies these ideas of success? For Paul, a life worthy of the Lord consists of bearing fruit in good works, being strengthened by God to have endurance and patience, and giving thanks to God. Lives that are filled with selfish acts, a reliance on ourselves to muddle through, and a lack of gratitude will eventually feel hollow and not at all successful. Regardless of where our vocations take us, we ought to remember Who "guides and girds" us for the long run and be grateful. On what foundation will you build your life?

Prayer: Loving God, You have given us talent and drive to succeed in this world. Help us to live out our lives with gratitude and the knowledge that only You are the source of all we need to succeed. Amen.
"For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will, through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way." — Colossians 1:9-10
